Why Are tracking tools so important?!
There are two main reasons as to why tracking tools are a neccessity to maximizing your nutrition.
#1 – To keep you Accountable!
This journey to get better that you are on is yours and yours alone! No one should have to tell you to track your progress and do the things you need to do daily to function at your highest. If you need someone constantly reminding you to do your training, eating, or any other mandatory baseball related activity… then I urge you to really assess why you play this sport. Do you love it? Because I’m willing to bet that if you do, you’d happily get up for that 6 am lift, or 2 hour practice. The process of progress may be mundane, but doing it is what makes the difference between good and great!
If you are tracking your calories, macros, and weight consistently, then you will avoid taking a day or two off. You will be forced to stay on track and it will also prevent you from losing progress as a result!
#2- Accuracy In Comparison
If you are like me, you have looked up how tall or how much weight an MLB player has to see how you compare. If you honestly know where you are at in the metrics department, then you can see how close or far you are to MLB player averages. I will link some studies that have been done on MLB players in terms of weight, height, lean body mass, etc.
If you are far from those high level player averages, DO NOT get discouraged! You should be excited instead because you can improve so much without ANY talent! All players can increase weight and muscle mass without any genetic gifts. That is why nutrition in athletics and specifically baseball is so beautiful!
